In accordance of the article 4, The Commission shall establish specific nutrient descriptions (nutrient profiles). The purpose of nutrient profiles is to define or based on food nutrition compositionit is acceptable to use indications. Nutrient profiles will focus on those nutrients that are not recommended for excessive consumption.

 

Nutrient profiling takes into account:

  • dietary recommendations, public health considerations, generally accepted scientific evidence on the relationship between diet, nutrition and health, on which EFSA has issued a scientific opinion,
  • industrial and commercial considerations, including innovation, cultural, nutritional and culinary considerations.
