As of April 22, 2026, the requirements for the non-commercial movement of pet animals (dogs, cats, and ferrets) are laid down in Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2026/131 of 20 January 2026 supplementing Regulation (EU) 2016/429 of the European Parliament and of the Council, as regards animal health requirements for non-commercial movement of pet animals.
According to the Regulation (EU) No 2026/131 which will come in force on 22th April 2026 Latvia will not authorise the movement of dogs, cats and ferrets less than 12 weeks old and are not vaccinated against rabies or if they are between 12-16 weeks old and have not yet meet the validity requirements of vaccination.
