Within the framework of the project #BOMCA10 (Border Management Program in Central Asia – 10th stage) financed by the European Union (EU), a visit of representatives of the services involved in the border control of Central Asian countries will take place in Latvia from July 9 to July 11, 2024. The overall objective of the BOMCA 10 program is to increase security, stability and sustainable growth in the region, as well as to support cross-border cooperation and improve the living conditions of people living in the border areas of Central Asia.
The 3rd component of the project is dedicated to trade promotion. Within the framework of this component, a group of experts from the SRS Customs Administration and PVD Border Control Department will introduce the customs, veterinary and phytosanitary border control systems in the EU and Latvia, emphasizing legislative requirements and risk management on the application of import and transit procedures, decision-making on the compliance of shipments and the monitoring process, as well as introduce with the information management system IMSOC and its components.
During the project event, the participants of the visit will visit the Food and Veterinary Service (PVD), the State Revenue Service (SRS), the SRS, the Customs Laboratory, the Scientific Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment "BIOR" and the National Phytosanitary Laboratory, while visiting the control points "Pāternieki" , "Indra", "Port of Riga" will familiarize themselves with the provision of good practice and the practical implementation of border control procedures, in accordance with EU requirements.
